Psalms 118:24

Psalms 118:24

This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Indeed this is a great day to be a child of God, and it is the day that our Lord has made! These days, which are considered by most Bible scholars as the last days, or the final days before all end time prophecies recorded in the Bible will be fulfilled.

In his writings the Apostle Peter gave advice as to what manner of person we ought to be in these last days. In 2 Peter 2:10-12, Simon Peter warned the readers of his epistles that the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, at which time the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the earth will be burned up. Peter then established three clearly define guidelines as to what manner of persons we should be, those guidelines are:

1. Holy in all conversation:

The word "conversation" means much more than just what we say, but it also defines our total behavior.

2. Holy in all godliness:

Godliness in this verse is requiring one to be holy or to have a sacred life in all ways and in all things

3. Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God.

In Titus 2:13, the Apostle Paul blesses us with these words: looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ.

After listing those guidelines, Peter continued in verse 14 by admonishing the child of God to be:

1. Diligent

2. To have the peace of God

3. Not have sinful spots in their lives

4. To be blameless

It is troubling to know that most people in America seem to be oblivious to the fact that we as a nation are hurtling very swiftly toward the end of the times. Jesus warned of this in his sermon which is recorded in Matthew chapter 24, when he said that as it was in the days of Noah so shall it be at the time of the coming of the Lord. (Matthew 24:37-39).

What should one expect to happen in these last days?

On the side of sin and Satan one can expect:

1. Wars between nations and kingdoms.

2. Earthquakes.

3. Famines.

4. Pestilences.

5. False Prophets.

6. False Christ.

7. Violence and turmoil.

8. Immorality and sexual perversion.

What should one expect to happen in these last days?

On the side of righteousness and Jesus one can expect:

1. God pouring out His spirit.

2. The church and every child of God being more committed to the gospel.

3. Revival in the church.

4. A great ingathering of souls to salvation.

5. The church prevailing over the gates of hell.

6. Signs, wonders and even astounding miracles.

7. The grace of God abounding.

8. Believers to live as conquering saints over sin and Satan.

Both of the above listings can be much longer and more things can be expected to happen in these last days. However the simple fact is Jesus is soon to bring this present world to an end. When that happens the dead in Christ will be resurrected, and the living saints will be caught away in the rapture.

Yes this is a great day, but what a day that will be when the New Testament Church born again believers are in his presence forever in the heavenly city New Jerusalem!
